Hi all!

I noticed some support inquiries coming as questions and messages on this tumblelog, so a clarification is needed:

The ONLY way to contact me with support related messages for my COMMERCIAL themes is via my profile page on ThemeForest.

Callisto is a free theme and thus comes without any form of support. Despite my initial plans to try and answer as much questions about it as I can, it appeared to be really time consuming and involving job for a busy guy like me. So please, don’t get offended if I don’t answer your message. As you can see, I rarely have time for this blog and most of the time I’m not aware what’s happening around.

Actually maybe I should ‘return’ :) . I had forgotten how much I enjoy Tumblr.

The first (to my knowing) Tumblr theme with jQuery slider! And not any slider - it’s the impressive Nivo Slider, integrated into a minimal portfolio layout.

Available on ThemeForest.

Some more tumblr themes and even shopping templates available from third-party vendors.

I'm wondering if there's any way of redirecting tags to pages in the Callisto theme, so I can use the pages more as categories than individual pages of information. Since my tumblr is going to encompass different parts of popular culture and related topics this would be a great way to group the posts for those who want to do just that.

Basically no, you can’t redirect tags to pages. You can simply include links to those pages in your posts - no need to hack the whole system for a simple change :)

I love your callisto theme! But i would like to make some personalization if u dont mind.

For example i would like to have a tag cloud, is it possible?

Hi fred,

The theme is free so you can modify it as you wish. Tumblr doesn’t support tag clouds officially but there is a third party solution - http://rive.rs/projects/tumblr-tag-clouds

I'm sorry I forgot to state which theme. It is the Callisto Theme. Today I refreshed my page and suddenly the background image/texture/pattern isn't there anymore. It is now a blank white page with all the contents. :(

Is there something wrong? Can you help me? :(

Yes, I saw it’s Callisto and believe me - everything is ok. Possible reasons for you not seeing the images:

Not enough RAM (you’ve opened too many windows/browser tabs so the OS can’t allocate enough memory to load the images).
Images are turned off (check your browser settings or just try to load the site using another browser)

Wohooo, finally! My next premium Tumblr theme is called “Gallera” and is available at ThemeForest.

Not the usual tumblelog, no. It’s a photo gallery theme - made to showcase visual stuff. Ideal for portfolio as well - it even has it’s own customizable intro text of the “Hello, my name is Jenna Doe and I am simply awesome!” type.

PS: Actually the name in the default text is Ichabod Craine… I was watching “Sleepy Hollow” while working on that part :)

The theme currently doesn’t support album art for audio posts, sorry. May add it in the next update though…

Hi there. Love the theme. However the CSS for the header font and text don't seem to translate to FireFox (at least on the Mac). Any ideas?

Yes, I mentioned that issue somewhere. Tumblr servers don’t officially support font files - at least that was the response I got. Firefox can’t read the .woff file needed to load and display the custom font. But they gave me a hint that they’d fix that at some point in the near future so it’s supposed to be OK after a while :)

How can I add menu items other than the "ask" on the left menu?

Just create a new Page and tick “Show a link to this page”.

Disqus comments seem to jiggle a lot when hovered on them, is this because of the width settings?

It’s because of the WebKit transition - all links in the theme are slightly animated by default. The effect is not visible if you use something different than Safari/Chrome.

But that Disqus doesn’t look good this way indeed. Will be fixed today.

Hi, that will be fixed in the next update. It’s because the “Link” type of posts weren’t supposed to include lists… At least in my mind. So add to Custom CSS:

.link ul, ol { margin: 0 0 1.5em 40px; }

.link ul li, .link ol li { margin: 0 0 .5em 0; }

.link ul li { list-style: circle; }

.link ol li { list-style: decimal-leading-zero; }

I just started using tumblr and imported posts from my old blog (chyrp). Very often I used the 'code block' (

...

) and 'code' (...) formatting feature of markdown to display snippets of source code. This formatting was correctly imported into tumblr but your theme doesn't style

 or  blocks. Would you mind adjusting your theme to make those blocks stand out a bit more (maybe similar to blockquotes)?

Since the Tumblr text editor doesn’t have  or 
 options for formatting, I haven’t included any styling.
But  I’ll add something in the next update - when I get spare 1-2 hours :)

Hi, your long description has pushed the icons away :)  Unfortunately some flexibility is sacrificed there. If you want only the RSS link, I’d suggest some manual work:
Add #header-right { width: 10%; } #header-right a.random, #header-right a.archive { display: none; } to the Custom CSS box.
Save. It should be there now.

… And there’s a whole new page about Callisto explaining how to enable the Disqus commenting system and the Google Analytics input. If you want to use them, of course.
Any theme related info will be added there.


When I open notes on a post in Callisto theme, they go just over the menus in on the left side.

And I can't see icons for random post, rss and archive.

Sorry about that. It’s fixed in the upcoming update which I’ll submit for approval today. In the meanwhile you can add this code to Customize -> Advanced -> Custom CSS:

ol.notes { width: 540px; clear: right; margin: -4em 0 3em 0; background: none; float: right; text-align: left; }
ol.notes li { padding: 2px 0;}
ol.notes li img { padding-right: 10px; margin-bottom: -5px; opacity: 0.70; filter:alpha(opacity=70); }
ol.notes li img:hover { opacity: 1; filter:alpha(opacity=100); }

It would fix the “likes”. 
And the header icons are intended to disappear if the title and/or description is too long.

Thank all for the provided feedback - it was really helpful! Callisto was my first Tumblr theme, created just a bit after I actually started using Tumblr, so naturally there were some bugs and issues with it. I hope I’d be excused for that.
So I’ve summed up all feedback and bug reports and a massive update is on the way - the new version will contain fixes to all discovered bugs, minor style tuning and additional functionality:
Twitter feed
Google Analytics
Disqus comments
Note: The latter addition is against the rules for non-premium themes so it will be turned off (commented) by default. Instructions how to enable it will be added here (probably in a separate page).

Thanks! I’m working on an update which will include Discus comments and Twitter feed as options. You can see how the commenting would look (for now) at http://callistotheme.tumblr.com. I need to finish the rest before submitting it for approval though.
